Vision Sunday Resurrected
If we count Sunday as the beginning of a new week, then I’ll have set foot in two high school gymnasiums this week for graduation. I can still remember sitting there sixteen years ago. Where has the time gone?
Today’s graduation was bittersweet. Seeing a client finish high school and be on her way. I became teary-eyed when they announced a graduate who had enlisted in the Marine Corps and was wearing his dress blues. Military stuff always makes me emotional.
I scoped out a BMW i8 this morning after I left the nature preserve. I’ve always lived the look of an i8. It’s going to be my future vehicle. Except I would never buy it new. I will buy one that is three years old that has lost a lot of its initial value. I don’t know if I will ever buy a brand new vehicle. I don’t much see the point. My 2015 Tucson was probably six thousand less after one year of use than if I had bought it brand new.
Today I broke a new rule for myself. I went to the graduation looking like a clueless guy. Skinny tan Jean’s, a tight superman shirt, and a Marine hat. I should have dressed up and let people perceive my positioning. To be fair, I was running on four hours of sleep. So dressing well for other functions other than work is a new rule for me. It’s all about the perceived pecking order and I want to be better at putting my best foot forward.
